Tech Me Kid's Story

Tech Me Kid was founded by Ovee Dharwadkar. This is her story.

Living with my grandma through COVID, I found that her lack of technical knowledge negatively impacted her from staying in touch virtually and by being dependent upon others for groceries, car rides, etc. Meanwhile, my friends and I spend hours messaging and 'Zooming' and are always looking for ways to earn volunteer hours. I saw the opportunity to connect tech-savvy youth with tech-challenged seniors to simplify their daily lives. Thus was born, “Tech Me Kid”. Tech Me Kid works to bridge the vast tech knowledge gap between generations. 

 

We are committed students striving for a change in our community. As a group, we work together to teach our grandmas and grandpas, our golden seniors, technology. Every week after school, we all meet up and walk to our local senior center only to be welcomed by boomers hungry to learn. We have taught over 100 sessions with over 300 seniors taught.
